Bayelsa Govt assures on maximum security at NYSC Orientation Camp
Bayelsa State government says adequate security would be provided at the on-going construction of the new National Youth Service Corps, NYSC Orientation Camp.
Mr Lawrence Ewrudiakpor, State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructural Development disclosed this to newsmen during an inspection of the camp site last week in Kaiama. He expressed optimism that the camp, when completed, would be one of the best in the country.
According to Ewrudiakpor, “This is a sign of new Bayelsa as the construction of the camp is to compliment the federal government effort on youth empowerment programmes.
“The camp is constructed with youth training and development centre and the centre will allow youths in the state to engage themselves in various skills acquisition.
“We cannot trade with the lives of the corps members. This camp is a modern one; it is well planned with high standard fence.
“It will also have a Church and Mosque, playground, clinic and facilities like shopping mall, market as well as cash banking due to non-availability of banks in Kaiama community”.
A corps member, Mr Otobong Thompson, Leader, Community Development, CDS group on Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, commended the state government on the new camp structure.
“We give kudos to the state government for constructing modern quality camp that will be benefited by many Nigerian citizens.
“Though, we are not going to be here on the day of commissioning, we must say that the government of Governor Seriake Dickson is a good thing to happen to Bayelsa.
“We pray that the camp will serve the people better and contribute to nation building; we have seen the camp structure, it is really a modern one”.
