Dickson approves payment of pension to Sylva, other political officers

Governor Henry Seriake Dickson has approved payment of pension and severance allowance of former governors, including former governor Timipre Sylva, their deputies and other political office holders.
In what can be regarded as an olive branch extended to political office holders under the administration of Sylva, Dickson has also ordered the setting up of a four-man committee to look into circumstances that led to the revocation of sale of the Opolo Commissioners Quarters to some political holders in the last administration as well as sack of members of State Statutory Agencies and Commission.
Dickson was said to have unveiled these decisions at a meeting with Ex-Bayelsa Government Officials Forum’ (EBGOF).
At the meeting, which had in attendance, Sylva’s erstwhile deputy, Werinipre Seibarugu, Dickson appointed the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Edmund Allison Oguru and State Commissioner of Justice and Attorney-General, Kemesuode Wodu to represent government while the SSG under Sylva’s administration, Chief Gideon Ekeuwei and the former Special Adviser on Legal Matters, Dennis Otiotio were to represent EBGOF.
The former commissioner of Information and Orientation, Chief Nathan Egba-Ologo, who was also at the meeting while briefing other members of the forum, confirmed the outcome of the meeting with Governor Dickson,
He quoted Dickson as promising to pay the former political office holders in the state their outstanding allowances including their severance pay.
According to Egba-Ologo, Dickson when announcing its approval for the payment of severance fee disclosed that he has already approved the severance payment of Sylva to demonstrate that he abhors not bitterness against the former governor whom he commended for commencing the process that led to the recovery of the Soku oil wells.
“Governor Dickson reintegrated his promise of our full integration into the PDP and enjoyed full rights and privileges. He also informed us that those qualified to belong to the membership of the Caucasus of the PDP at the State and Local Government level will be allowed. He has assured that we would never be discriminated against in any way
We commended him for his accommodating disposition to all interest within the PDP and the people of the state. He is a man of his words. We commended him for his educational policy with particular emphasis on the expansion of the state scholarship scheme. We advised him to stay focused.”

  1. According to W.H Auden. The aim of education is to induce the largest amount of neurosis the individual can bear without cracking. The neurosis we beard has already crashed due to incompetent of the Bayelsa State Government to pay stipend and tuition fees to it's scholarship scheme. Bayelsa state government spent money on things that is not relevant to the people of Bayelsa state. The governor is planning to pay made men that embezzles the state resources for their selfish interest, why not use that money to clear all the Bayelsa state students on scholarship and civil servant that their pension is due for the last three years. Some of them are patiently waiting for the government to pay them while some already in 6 fit. God bless all of owner.
