Ex-President Clinton for Bayelsa Investment Forum
Former U.S. President, Bill Clinton is expected to give the keynote speech titled "unlocking Bayelsa State's economic potential: Opportunities and challenges," on July 16, 2014, when the state begins its two-day maiden Investment and Economic Forum in Yenogoa.
Other speakers at the event organized by the state government include Jim O'Neill, a guest, who will speak on "creating an investor friendly economy: A road map for Bayelsa State."
The event, according to the state, forms part of the vision of Governor Seriake Dickson "to build a strong, thriving and competitive economy, and to make Bayelsa State a model of an African economic success story."
The forum is expected to highlight and showcase investment opportunities in the state, in addition to fostering discussions and dialogue between prospective local and international investors, finance experts and regulators. It will also encourage and facilitate investment in Bayelsa, while projecting the "state as the haven and destination of choice in Africa for investment and massive industrialisation, particularly in the oil and gas, energy and power, technology, infrastructure, agriculture, tourism and hospitality sectors."
According to Kemela Okara, the state's Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Investments, the forum will open with an address by Governor Dickson, while goodwill messages are expected from Dr. Mike Adenuga, chairman, Globacom; Lawrence Robertson, Chairman of Westminster Africa Business Group; and President Goodluck Jonathan, among others.
