ATM CAPTURED PICTURE HELP POLICE IDENTIFY AND ARRREST ROBBERY SUSPECT IN YENAGOA

ATM fraud: Police arrest robbery suspect in Bayelsa°

THE picture of a suspected robber captured during a cash transaction on the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in Kpansia area of Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has led to his arrest by men of the state police command.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the robbery suspect, identified as Pere Asuede, was arrested after using one of the victim’s ATM card to withdraw the sum of N19,000 and had his picture taken by the machine.

According to police sources, the suspect had, last week, burgled the home of a female victim at gun point and carted away valuables, including her ATM card, with an order for the victim to disclose her ATM pin for easy access. It was gathered that he warned that failure to secure access to the account of the victim would earn another deadly visit that might cost her life.

Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the state police command, Mr Alex Akhigbe, said the suspect had been arrested, adding that the picture taken during the ATM transaction aided the police in identifying him.

The suspect was identified and traced to his home and, after a thorough search, stolen valuables belonging to his victims, including a wrist watch belonging to an expatriate was recovered.

“Even the T-shirt worn to the bank was also stolen,” he said
